We operate on two levels of consciousness- intellectual or conscious and subconscious, which is our mind's inner computer or a file storage-cabinet.
Any ideas, behaviors or attitudes that we let bypass from the critical mind and implement into the subconscious mind lead to corresponding behavioral traits and as we begin to act those behaviors out consistently, they become habits.
We do something often enough in conjunction with other routings we develop conditional reflex, and eventually one triggers another. For example:
We watch TV and snacking, so every time we would turn on a TV-set we would automatically start snacking, without even being consciously aware; another example is a cup of coffee and a cigarette; one triggers another.
While in hypnosis we have an opportunity to reprogram our inner computer and release the old cycle of habit pattern.
Hypnosis has been successfully used with a variety of habit disorders:
Thump sucking, nail biting, trichotillomania, skin-picking, and tongue thrusting, bruxism, habitual behaviors, obsessive-compulsive rituals, smoking, over-eating, over-reacting, and many more personal habitual addictions.
